Jeremiah Burroughs (1599–1646), most famous for his The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment, was a faithful Puritan pastor known for preaching deep doctrine with a gentle, unifying spirit. A graduate of Emmanuel College and student of Thomas Hooker, Burroughs served congregations in England and the Netherlands before becoming one of London’s most beloved preachers.

Though an Independent, he worked tirelessly for Christian unity during one of the most fractured periods in church history. His legacy lives on through works that continue to anchor the soul—clear in doctrine, tender in tone, and tethered to the truths of Scripture.
