Joseph Alleine: A Life Poured Out to Win Souls to Christ

Born: 1634, Devizes, England
Died: November 1668, Taunton, England

Joseph Alleine’s early ministry was marked by serving alongside George Newton in Taunton, preaching boldly, and visiting the sick. Stirred by the thought that earthly laborers rose early to work, Alleine likewise rose early to prayer and scripture reading.

When persecution drove him from the pulpit, Alleine preached all the more—gathering saints in homes, exhorting the downcast from behind prison bars, and writing letters that still stir hearts today. His burning passion to see sinners come alive in Christ continues to ignite the hearts of believers today.
