Matthew Mead was a beloved Puritan preacher known for piercing calls to genuine faith in Christ. For nearly three decades, he pastored London’s largest congregation at Stepney, ministering through plague, persecution, and unrest with courage and clarity.

Exampled in his most famous work, The Almost Christian Discovered, Mead’s preaching was full of urgency, firm in warning but rich in grace. He longed to awaken the conscience and lead souls to full assurance in Christ.
