Grace: The Truth, Growth, and Different Degree by Christopher Love

    Edited by Dr. Don Kistler
    Hardcover • Smyth sewn • Acid-free paper

Drawn from 1 Kings 14:13—“Because in him there is found some good thing toward the Lord God of Israel”—these 15 sermons by Christopher Love explore the nature, beginnings, and degrees of saving grace.

Love, a brilliant young Welsh preacher and Covenanter, was highly esteemed in his day. In these sermons, Love teaches that the smallest evidence of saving grace—no matter how weak—is still real, God-given, and deeply valued by Christ.

Bound for durability and designed with care, this hardcover volume is meant not only to be read but to be handed down as a lasting spiritual heirloom.

    About the Author

Christopher Love didn’t just preach the gospel—he lived and died by it. A passionate Welsh Puritan with a heart for truth, Love ministered during the chaos of the English Civil War, when loyalties were divided and convictions were tested. His bold stand wasn’t for a political party, but for the Lordship of Christ and the authority of His Word. He refused to compromise on biblical worship and ordination, often preaching with a fire that exposed error and called hearts to repentance. His sermons, shaped by suffering and conviction, always pointed to Christ as the anchor for weary souls and the sure foundation of the church. Even in his final hours, Love’s joy in Christ shone brightly, sealing his testimony as a faithful witness who counted no cost too great for the truth.

Christopher Love is one of my favorite Puritans. And this book on “Grace” is, in my opinion, one of the 3 best books I’ve ever published in over 30 years of reprinting the Puritans. If there’s a single theme to this book it is this: Christ is a better Savior than I am a sinner. —Dr. Don Kistler, Editor

    Quote from the book

    Image
The worse the place or family is where God has cast your dwelling, the better and more blameless you should labor to be. You will by this adorn your profession, stop the mouths of adversaries, and allure and win others to embrace Christianity. We must be “blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, amongst whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15). Stars shine brightest in a dark night, and fire burns hottest in a cold and frosty day. So should your star of profession shine brightest in dark places where you live, and the fire of your zeal burn hottest in cold times, when the love of many waxes cold.(p. 10)
