    About the Author

    James Burdwood was a devoted Puritan pastor known for his steadfast faith in the midst of suffering. Harassed by Quakers, fined for preaching, and afflicted with disease, he never stopped proclaiming Christ.  His ministry was marked by patience under persecution, deep concern for his family’s souls, and gentle yet faithful counsel to all who sought him out. His words of comfort in the midst of affliction offer comfort to today’s readers.
