    About the Author

Though not technically a Puritan, Jonathan Edwards (1703โ€“1758) is often called "Americaโ€™s greatest theologian" and considered the final echo of Puritanism in the New World. A preacher, philosopher, missionary, and president of Princeton, he helped ignite the Great Awakening with depth, conviction, and clarity and famously delivered the sermon: โ€œSinners in the Hands of an Angry God.โ€ย  Edwards combined revival preaching with a lifelong commitment to doctrinal precision and Christ-centered vision. In an age of spiritual confusion, Edwards offers pastors, students, and thoughtful readers a voice of stability, depth, and unwavering biblical truth.

    Quote from the book

    Image
He is worthy to be believed on. You may safely believe His Promises however great, however strange, and however wonderful His promises are. You may safely trust Him when He reveals and promises things that are beyond sense and comprehension; you may trust Him when he declares that which seems incredible to your own reason. ...You may safely trust Him when He says that if you will believe you shall have eternal life and He will raise you up at the last day. (p. 16-17)
