Walter Cradock: Teacher of Justification Through Christ Alone

Born: 1610, Llangwm, South East Wales
Died: December 24, 1659, Langwym, South East Wales

Walter Cradock (c. 1610โ€“1659) came from a prominent family and was an Oxford-educated Welsh Puritan preacher whose Gospel-centered preaching helped shape early nonconformity in Wales. He helped start the first Independent church in Wales and became a leading spokesperson of the Independent movement.

During the English Civil War, Cradock ministered at All Hallows the Great in London, where many of his sermons were preached and later published. A key supporter of Oliver Cromwell, he played a central role in advancing Protestant ministry.

Cradock is best remembered for his clear, forceful preaching on justification by Christ alone, Gospel liberty, and the simplicity of faith.
